They do, if your income is low enough to justify the time involved. You can get free lunches, dinners, and inexpensive products. Last I heard of those programs was almost a decade ago, things may have changed since then.

If you have time to kill, and don’t earn much money, I’d say give it a shot.

I did it for about 5 years and it was fun and worth it, just not very consistent. The problem now is, all the ads I see and hear you have to pay a fee up front and so I don’t know now. I never paid a dime to a company up front for it. Be careful!

Don’t do it. I got a “check” like that for modeling supposedly. Some company wanted me to model for them and they sent me a check for 3 grand. I was skeptical so I kept the check to see how it played it. When I did not make the money gram transfer on the day the wanted, they kept emailing me to do it. I never did it, and the check that was deposited in my savings account bounced. If you send the money gram, that money is sent back to them. Your check will then bounced and you will end up owing 3 grand to the bank. Nothing in life is free =)

I agree with what others have said. You won’t get rich, but its worth doing for some pin money.

You need to sign up for as many companies as you can. If you only sign up for one company, then you won’t get much work. However, if you have your name out at a ton of different places, you stand a better chance.

Most want you to buy your meal before you get paid. Payment is anywhere from 2 weeks to 90 days. I look on it as a savings account of sorts. I go do my shop and a few weeks later have money in my Paypal account.

Some companies want you to fill out pages of questions. Others are only a few questions. Depends on the company and form. I always check to see what they want, before I accept a shop.

You need to be able to pay attention to details. Times from when you enter, order, get your food and so on. If you don’t want to do that, don’t sign up for mystery shopping.

Secret shopping is not as easy as it seems. I have been one off and on for years. First of all, the pay is not that great unless you do this full time, and even then, you would have to do a LOT of shops. The average pay for retail shops, coffee shops, etc is less than 10.00 per shop. Also, the reputable companies have a lot of details they want you to look for, so these shops take a lot of time to get all the information gathered. They look for exact times, so a stop watch is needed to get accurate information. They also review security cameras randomly to make sure you completed the shop as you said you did. It is a lot of work!

I tried to do it through a few sites but it is really competitive. you need to be fast and watch for new jobs A LOT and I didn’t feel like the money was worth it enough to make it my top priority. most of the time i would be spending just as much on gas or something so the money would mean i broke even. so i would get free things or food but was it worth it? i dont know. i dont think so.

The Mystery Shopping Providers Association (MSPA) has a list of companies. Their main website is for US companies, but they have a link to their global website too.

@kabo0m Probably because of the title I picked. I probably should have called the video “Fake Cheque Scam evidence 2010″ .. but I couldn’t think of a good name at that time. I was doing searches and researching and found out this type of scam is called 419.

@Clipshit I love the scambaiter and am still learning and was amazed by how far they go to try to get the trust of innocent people and get their money
